In short
Financial services operations automation means applications captured once, KYC documents collected and checked for completeness, underwriting packs prepared for a person to decide, and servicing, renewal and payment reminders sent on schedule with a full audit log. SBD builds the administrative layer around your loan or policy system and never makes credit or advice decisions.
Who this is for
Who brings us in, in lending, insurance and financial services.
- Founders and managing directors of lenders, brokers and agencies
- Operations and processing managers
- Underwriting and credit team leads
- Compliance officers
Is this you?
If three of these sound like your week, this page is about your business.
- Most applications need at least one round of chasing
- Documents are renamed and filed by hand
- Underwriters gather their own paperwork
- Brokers phone to ask for case status
- Audit evidence is assembled from inboxes
What it costs today
Where lending, insurance and financial services loses the hours.
Applications arrive incomplete
Forms come in with missing fields and missing documents, and each file goes back and forth by email for days before anyone can assess it.
Document chasing eats the day
Payslips, bank statements, IDs and proof of address are requested, received in pieces, renamed and filed by hand.
Underwriters assemble their own files
Skilled people spend their time gathering and checking paperwork instead of reviewing the case.
Brokers and introducers ask for status
Partners phone and email to ask where a case is, and the answer means opening three systems.
Servicing and collections run late
Payment reminders, renewals and missed-payment follow-ups depend on someone running a report and working through it.
The audit trail is reconstructed
When a regulator or auditor asks who did what and when, the answer is pieced together from inboxes and spreadsheets.
By company size
Lending, insurance and financial services at 10 people, and at 1,000.
- 1 to 10
A broker or small lender where the founder processes cases, chases documents and keeps the compliance file.
- 11 to 50
A processing team working from shared inboxes, with every case chased by email and tracked in a spreadsheet.
- 51 to 200
Several products, a broker network asking for status, and underwriters building their own files.
- 201 to 1,000
Multiple teams and systems, collections run from reports, and audit evidence pulled together by hand.
What we build
What we build for lending, insurance and financial services teams.
- 01
Application intake
A guided form that checks fields as they are filled, asks only for what each product needs, and writes the application to your system complete.
- 02
KYC document collection
A secure upload link per applicant, documents read and checked for type, date and completeness, and missing items requested automatically. Identity verification itself runs through your chosen provider.
- 03
Underwriting pack preparation
Application, documents and extracted figures assembled into one pack with gaps flagged, so an underwriter reviews and decides. The decision stays with a person.
- 04
Broker and introducer portal
Partners submit cases, upload documents and see live status and outstanding items without a phone call.
- 05
Servicing and collections reminders
Payment due, missed payment, renewal and document expiry messages sent on the schedule and wording your compliance team approves.
- 06
Compliance and activity log
Every message, document, change and approval recorded with who and when, ready for an audit or a complaint review.

The numbers we move
How a lending, insurance and financial services build is judged.
Every build has a number written into the blueprint. These are the ones lending, insurance and financial services builds are measured by, and how we measure them.
| Metric | Before | After | How it is measured |
|---|---|---|---|
| Complete on first submission | A minority of files | Most files | Applications with all fields and documents at first submission, per week |
| Time to decision-ready | Days of chasing | Shorter, gaps flagged early | Time from application received to pack ready for an underwriter |
| Status enquiries | Answered by phone | Answered by the portal | Broker and customer status calls and emails per week |
| Reminders sent on time | When the report is run | On schedule | Servicing and renewal reminders sent on their due date, per month |
Documents and records
The paperwork that generates itself.
Names and tax rules differ by country. We build for the ones you file under, whether that is VAT, sales tax or GST.

What this does not do
So the scope is clear before the call.
- Credit decisions, pricing, underwriting judgement or regulated advice. People make those decisions.
- Replacing your core loan, policy or banking system. We build around it.
Terms, defined
Lending, insurance and financial services terms, in plain English.
- KYC
- Know your customer: the checks a regulated firm makes to confirm who a customer is, usually identity and address documents plus screening.
- Underwriting pack
- The assembled application, documents and figures an underwriter reviews before making a decision.
- Audit trail
- A time-stamped record of who did what to a case and when, kept so it can be shown to an auditor or regulator.
Questions
What people ask about lending, insurance and financial services automation.
Will the system make lending or underwriting decisions?
No. It collects, checks and organises the information, and prepares the file. A qualified person reviews it and decides. We do not build credit scoring, pricing or advice tools.
Do you work with our loan or policy system?
We connect to systems with an API or a supported integration route, and build around them. Your loan, policy or CRM system stays the record. Where a system has no API, we work from its exports and imports.
How do you handle customer data?
Everything runs in accounts you own, with access by role and an audit log. We use vendors that sign data processing agreements and we sign one with you. Your compliance lead sets the requirements for retention, consent and wording; we build to them.
Do you do identity verification?
We integrate the identity verification provider you choose and route its results into the file. We do not act as the verification provider ourselves.
How long until the first part is live?
Document collection and servicing reminders are usually live inside the first two-week sprint, because they sit beside your core system rather than changing it.

How much should an AI agent be allowed to do?
An agent with an unscoped token dropped a production database and its backups in nine seconds. The permission model we use for every agent: read widely, write narrowly, spend with a cap, and escalate when unsure.

Invoice intake with an agent: the first thirty days
What the first month of an invoice intake agent looks like from the inside: how the queue behaves, which invoices escalate, what the finance team changes, and the three settings that decide whether it survives month two.
