Airtable or SmartSuite for running your operations?
Both turn spreadsheets into connected databases. They lean in different directions, and we build on both.
In short
Choose Airtable when the job is a flexible relational database with a large ecosystem of integrations and interfaces. Choose SmartSuite when the job is work management: projects, owners, statuses, dashboards and forms for a team that wants one workspace to run the day. Both need care as data and teams grow; past a certain size the data belongs in a database and the platform becomes the interface.

Questions
Can SBD move us from one to the other?
Yes. We map the tables, fields and automations, migrate the data with its links, rebuild the views and automations, and run both side by side until the team is happy. We have also moved a client from SmartSuite to a custom CRM, with 745 records across 11 tables migrated.
Which automates better?
Both have built-in automations for simple rules. For multi-step logic, AI steps or syncs with other systems we usually add Make or n8n, whichever platform holds the data.
What does it cost to build on either?
Workflow automation starts at $1,500 and internal tools at $3,000, at a fixed price set after a $500 Automation Audit credited to the build.
